George Economy is Director of Amani Holdings LLC, a private investment fund based in Washington, DC. He brings forty-five years’ experience as an investment banker, entrepreneur, and investor to his current involvement with US and global social enterprises as an executive mentor, financial advisor, and impact investor.  He possesses a deep expertise and commitment to fostering social ventures that promote an “economy of well-being” for people and planet through the “Fourth Sector”- an emerging sector of the economy that combines market-based business and financial knowhow of the private sector with the social and environmental objectives of the public and charitable sectors.  

Previously, George founded and was CEO of Helios Nutrition Ltd., Sauk Centre, Minnesota, a leading producer of organic and specialty dairy foods, including its flagship nationally distributed organic kefir probiotic beverage. He began his career with The Chase Manhattan Bank as a corporate investment banker to technology companies and credit officer in New York, Frankfurt, and London. Subsequently, he led and advised several entrepreneurial ventures in the technology and biomedical industries. 

Since 2009, George has served as an executive mentor for global social enterprises located in sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, and the US through the Santa Clara University (California)- Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship social venture accelerator programs.  

George graduated from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, with a B.A. (First Class Honours) in History of Science, and Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH. He was born in Bangor, Maine.
