Michael Rauenhorst

Michael is Managing Partner at SIMA and leads advisory engagements with foundations, impact and faith-based investors to structure and place investments in enterprises that generate social, environmental and gender impacts. He has oversight roles for the Energy Access Relief Fund, B.V., Off-Grid Solar and Financial Access Senior Debt Fund I B.V., and Emerging Distributor Finance Fund B.V.. These impact funds provide over $400M in financing to over 150 solar, mini-grid, clean cooking and financial inclusion companies serving low-income customers in 28 emerging markets and least developed countries. Michael also develops SIMA’s environmental, social and gender frameworks and technical assistance programs for portfolio companies.

Michael previously worked with Moody’s Corporation where he co-developed social performance ratings for financial inclusion institutions. Michael serves on the boards of the Gregorian University Foundation, the Opus Prize Foundation and Adler Trust Company; and is emeritus board member of the FADICA charitable network, Fonkoze USA and Jamicro (Jamaican microfinance company).
