Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
University: Makerere University
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Igadube Eria Michael, a proud graduate of Makerere University Kampala, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting with First-Class Honours. Michael’s academic journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of education.
Michael’s story began at Bishops Senior School Mukono, where he excelled in his secondary education. His dream of attending Makerere University—a prestigious institution—came true with his admission and was further supported by the SIMA Impact Foundation Scholarship. Reflecting on this life-changing opportunity, Michael shares, “Because of your assistance, I hold a first-class degree of 4.64.” The scholarship enabled him to focus entirely on his studies, free from the financial burden of tuition fees.
He adds, “The SIMA Impact Foundation Scholarship allowed me to dedicate ample time to my books and study with peace of mind, knowing my tuition was always covered. This support has been instrumental in achieving my dream of graduating with a first-class degree.”
Beyond academics, Michael cherishes the relationships he built with members of the SIMA team and key mentors, including Professor Akileng Godfrey, Dean of the School of Business. Their guidance and encouragement enriched his experience and shaped his aspirations.
A pivotal moment in Michael’s academic journey occurred in 2023 when he represented Makerere University in the CFA Inter-University Research Challenge. Alongside his team, he conducted an in-depth equity research project on MTN Uganda, providing valuable insights to guide investment decisions. “We immersed ourselves in investment research, which broadened my perspective on impact investing,” he recalls.
Michael believes strongly in supporting students from Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. “Such support enables young people to achieve their dreams and fosters a culture of paying it forward to impact the next generation,” he says.
While exploring employment opportunities, Michael feels confident about his future. “The scholarship has equipped me with the skills and knowledge sought by employers. I can confidently say it won’t take long to secure a position; thanks to the exceptional academic foundation I have built.”
Michael expresses his profound gratitude: “To the SIMA Impact Foundation, I cannot fully describe the joy you’ve brought into my life. Thank you for the immense value you have placed on me. Today, I proudly wear the cap of Uganda’s best university, and for that, I will always be grateful.”
